Eurekas high efficient low and medium temperature ORC system is a standardized stand-alone modular unit with a comprehensive capacity range from 150 up to 2 000 kW power production and scalable for larger projects. Typical applications Waste Heat Recovery systems to Power and Geothermal power. Temperature range from 60 up to 160 °C. In low temperature applications with temperature fluctuations, typical for WHRS applications, the Eureka ORC systems power production remains even if the temperature drops below 60°C.
The Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) is a thermodynamic cycle that uses an organic working fluid instead of water to generate electricity from heat.
The ORC cycle works by heating the organic working fluid (1) in a heat exchanger (2 & 3) using a heat source (8) such as geothermal energy, solar energy or waste heat from industrial processes. The heated fluid vaporizes and expands through a screw expander (4) to generate electricity (5). The vapor is then condensed in a condenser (6) back into a liquid using a cooling system (9)and the working fluid recycle back to the heat exchangers via a liquid feed pump (7) and the cycle repeats.

This allows power production with or without superheating the working fluid unlike many other expander technologies. The robust design and Eurekas smart control system enables power production with fluctuation in both temperature and flow, ideal for WHRS to Power applications.
With a mix of standard plate heat exchangers, plate and frame exchangers complemented by an almost unlimited range of tailor-made shell and tube heat exchangers to meet each projects requirement.
Comprehensive range of working fluids, natural, synthetics and hydrocarbon, to optimize the ORC system performance, enables to select an optimal match for low temperature heat source appr. 60 °C. up to medium temperature heat source appr. 160 °C.
